Privacy Policy

What never leaves your Mac

Your footage, its sound, the transcripts, captions, pictures, project files and finished videos are processed on your Mac and are never uploaded to us. The AI models run on your Mac too.

What we collect

• Account (Sign in with Apple, when you sign in to export): the identifier Apple gives us for you, and the name and email address only if you choose to share them with Apple's sign-in (the email may be a private relay address).
• Subscription: which plan you bought, when it renews or ends, and Apple's transaction identifiers, sent to us by Apple. Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card or bank details.
• Usage data, only if you allow it when the app asks: which screens, buttons and features you use, how long each step takes, error types (never their contents), app version, macOS version, language and region settings, memory size, time zone, and a random install identifier. After you sign in it is linked to your account. The country your connection comes from is recorded when it arrives; the IP address itself is not stored with it.
• Personal selection profiles you or your organisation have us keep, so they reach your Mac after sign-in.
• Downloads of the AI models from our servers, which our hosting providers log as ordinary web requests.
• On this website: the email address and language you enter to be told about the launch.

Why we use it

• To sign you in, check your subscription and unlock exports (performance of our contract with you).
• To send your profiles and the model files to your Mac (contract, and our legitimate interest in delivering them securely).
• To find what is slow, confusing or broken and to make the app better, from usage data you agreed to share (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
• To answer you when you write to us, to keep the service secure, and to meet legal obligations.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent your data, we show no ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Who processes it for us, and where

• Apple: Sign in with Apple, the App Store and its payments.
• Google Cloud (Firebase / Firestore): accounts, subscription state and usage data.
• Vercel: hosting of the service (api.switchlog.io) and this website.
• Cloudflare (R2): storage and delivery of model files and profiles.

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and South Korea. They act on our instructions and protect transfers with safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

• Account and subscription data: while your account exists, and deleted within 30 days after you ask us to delete it, except records the law requires us to keep, for the period it requires.
• Usage data: up to 26 months, then deleted or reduced to totals that no longer identify anyone.
• Usage data waiting on your Mac is deleted as soon as you say no or turn sharing off.
• Launch-list email addresses: until the launch mail is sent or you ask us to remove yours.

Your choices and rights

• Usage data: turn "Share usage data" on or off at any time on the app's Quick Start screen.
• You can ask to see, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, to restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent, by writing to the contact below. We answer within 30 days.
• To delete your account, write to us from the email address of your account or tell us your account's email. Deleting the account does not cancel an App Store subscription: cancel it in your App Store account settings (the app's "Manage Subscription").
• You can stop using Sign in with Apple for SwitchLog in your Apple Account settings.
• In the EU, the UK and elsewhere you may complain to your data protection authority; in Korea, to the Personal Information Protection Commission or the KISA privacy centre (privacy.kisa.or.kr, 118).

Children

SwitchLog is not directed at children under 13 (under 14 in Korea) and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Keys and credentials are kept on the server side only, and access to stored data is limited to what running the service needs.

Changes

When this policy changes we update this page and its effective date, and for significant changes we tell you in the app before they apply.
